why’s (poignant) guide to ruby

Simon is right, read this guide to Ruby. I have no idea what Ruby is either, but it doesn’t seem to matter.

    Ruby Annotation is currently a W3C Recommendation. From the web site:

    "'Ruby' are short runs of text alongside the base text, typically used in East Asian documents to indicate pronunciation or to provide a short annotation. This specification defines markup for ruby, in the form of an XHTML module"

    Actually in this case Ruby is a programming language, similar to Python. See http://www.ruby-lang.org/
