Multi-functional, all-in-one everything

A clown doll

There are too many things in my life.

Not people and jobs and decisions, but actual things — books, diaries, shoes, clothes, newspapers, pens, computer stuff.

It’s everywhere.

I started off working in this room with only a laptop, nothing else. Now I have:

  1. A laptop;
  2. An 18in flat screen;
  3. A stand for the screen;
  4. A wireless keyboard and mouse;
  5. Some speakers;
  6. A mobile phone;
  7. Two diaries;
  8. Two glasses cases;
  9. A drawer full of installation CDs;
  10. A drawer full of DVDs;
  11. More pens than I can comfortably misplace in a year;
  12. A boxfile full or receipts;
  13. Three boxfiles of paperwork for past and present projects;
  14. One boxfile of catalogues;
  15. Twelve books on programing and design (only two of which I ever refer to);
  16. A plant;
  17. Assorted magazines, paperwork, printer paper, medicine and camera filters sitting on the floor;
  18. A huge digital SLR and its bag;
  19. A guitar and case;
  20. An old, empty drawer from somewhere;
  21. Some dumbbells;
  22. A inflatable yoga ball;
  23. A special sitting-kneeling chair;
  24. 100 blank CD-Rs and their cases;
  25. Two folders holding all my photos on CDs;
  26. Miscellaneous bits of hardware and wiring in a box.

That’s far too much stuff for one room.

I need to minimise the crap. I need multi-functional, all-in-one everything.

And I need it quick, before I go barmy.

    Hey Angela,

    The American/British Dictionary [1] says:

    barmy sl adj:
    soft in the head, crazy, stupid, “yer barmy git“.

    The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language [2] says:

    adj: informal or slang terms for mentally irregular

    So, I hope that helps :o)
