The Shadow/Highlight tool in Photoshop CS

In Photoshop CS (and CS only) go to: Image > Adjustments > Shadow/Highlight and have a play with the menu that appears. Using this tool you can pull quite a lot of detail from the dark and light extremes of your photos (not that it always results in a better image, of course) without disrupting the overall balance of the picture…
